UNITED PHOTOGRAPHIC POSTFOLIOS
of Great Britain

Overview

For photographers living too far from a town, or those with a disability who find travelling difficult or access to club rooms inconvenient, postal potfolios are an ideal means of gaining active participation in their hobby. And, of course, if you already belong to a local club, UPP participation can be an excellent supplement to your existing activities.
You can expect to receive 12 postfolios a year to view and comment on, not forgetting to add your own latest masterpiece to the collection on each occasion. What better way to get a broad cross section of opinion about your work. Also at the close of the UPP year the monthly winners, or Gold Label Winners as we call them, from all Circles, are exhibited or projected during a convention weekend (usually held in September) which also plays host to the UPP AGM.
It is here that the annual Trophies and Certificates of Merit are awarded, by independant judges, for the best entries. This is always a very special, and informal, ocassion when members of all Circles can come together to establish, renew and maintain friendships.
Meanwhile, during the year members receive two issues, in the Spring and Autumn, of the club magazine - "The Little Man". This is always an excellent read. It's contents include reports from the Circles, profiles of award winning members, and some examples of superb photography.
Of course, like membership of any club, there is a price to pay; an annual subscription and the costs of posting the box each month. BUT postal costs can actually be less expensive than travelling to a conventional club, and it is sometimes possible to find a fellow member living nearby so that the box can be passed by hand, and the postage shared.
